Samsung’s Galaxy A18 has appeared on Geekbench, revealing key details about the upcoming budget smartphone. The listing suggests Samsung may launch the phone in the coming weeks. The device carries model number SM-A185G and uses MediaTek’s MT6789 octa-core processor. This chip matches the Helio G99, which also powers the Galaxy A17 4G.
A recent rumor claimed Samsung will use MediaTek hardware for the Galaxy A18 4G. Meanwhile, the Galaxy A18 5G is expected to use a Qualcomm chipset. The Geekbench-tested Galaxy A18 had 4GB of RAM and ran Android 17. Samsung will likely pair the software with One UI 9. The phone scored 745 points in the single-core test. It reached 2,073 points in the multi-core test.
Samsung is also working on another Galaxy A18 4G model. The SM-A185F version recently appeared through test firmware on Samsung’s European server. That model is also expected to use the Helio G99 processor. However, Samsung has not confirmed any specifications for the Galaxy A18 lineup.
The Galaxy A18 4G may also bring a familiar design. Leaked renders show an Infinity-U notch on the front. The rear panel reportedly features a vertically arranged triple-camera setup. This suggests the phone will keep much of the design language seen on Samsung’s affordable A-series phones.
Samsung has yet to announce the Galaxy A18 launch date. However, an earlier report claimed the 4G model would arrive first. The Galaxy A18 5G could follow several months later. Samsung is also reportedly planning to start mass production of the 4G model this month.
The company reportedly plans to produce 100,000 Galaxy A18 4G units in August. Production could then rise to 2.4 million units in September. Samsung reportedly expects to make another 2.5 million units in October. Still, these numbers could change based on market demand and other conditions.
Production of the Galaxy A18 5G is expected to start based on Qualcomm’s chipset readiness. Samsung has not yet confirmed these production plans or the phone’s launch schedule.
