Two days ago, Housemarque released the third post-launch update for Saros. The PlayStation 5 third-person roguelite shooter originally launched late last month on April 30. Despite selling a modest 300,000 copies and potentially struggling to recoup development costs, the game enjoys massive critical acclaim. Currently, Saros holds an 87 Top Critic Average alongside a 91% recommendation score on OpenCritic. Reviewers highly praise the game. For example, Dalton Cooper awarded it a 9/10, highlighting its accessibility, thrilling combat, and boss fights, though he noted occasional repetitiveness.
Over the past few weeks, the developers consistently rolled out patches to refine the experience. First, a May 5 update balanced bullet bounce accuracy and scaled damage for the Powered Dash Artifact. Next, a May 7 patch fixed world design flaws, including missing prologue assets and a broken Cathedral door. Now, the latest May 13 patch, officially titled 01.004.002, specifically targets progression-related bugs.
Fixing Major Saros Gameplay & World Glitches
Update 01.004.002 directly tackles frustrating world and level design issues. Consequently, enemies can no longer receive healing from outside specific combat areas. Additionally, developers resolved a severe issue where players clipped through elevators and fell through the floor. Furthermore, the Ancient Depths biome now reliably appears after you defeat the Prophet. Similarly, players will properly reset if they fall out of the bounds of the Cathedral biome.
Regarding gameplay, the patch corrects a randomization error affecting red containers. Moreover, Housemarque fixed rare phase transition glitches occurring during the Shepherd and Priestess boss fights.
Technical Adjustments & Trophy Corrections
The technical side also sees crucial improvements. Most notably, the update eliminates a rare crash that occurred when players manually restarted their cycle in the Yellow Shore. Meanwhile, developers adjusted the peak HDR output. Therefore, the game can now successfully reach the calibrated Maximum Luminance level.
Finally, patch 01.004.002 resolves annoying trophy bugs. Previously, the “Vincible” and “Untouchable” trophies unlocked at the wrong times. To clarify, players earn “Vincible” by completing a biome without using a shield. Conversely, players unlock “Untouchable” by finishing a biome without taking direct, non-Corruption damage or losing their Adrenaline streak. The system now tracks and awards these achievements correctly.
