The Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has successfully restarted a sealed oil and gas well in the province of Sindh, generating 3.6 million cubic feet of gas every single day.
The Faiz X-1 well in Ghambat, Sindh, had remained shut since the year 2014, when insufficient infrastructure made it impossible to extract any production commercially.
Pakistan Petroleum Limited formally notified the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) through an official letter confirming the s successful return of the well to full production.
The company connected Faiz X-1 to existing pipeline networks of nearby operational wells, enabling gas to flow without requiring entirely new processing infrastructure.
Engineers used advanced modern technology to isolate and manage the well’s complex deep underground zones, resolving highly technical challenges previously considered too difficult.
A dedicated 4.5-kilometre feeder pipeline was constructed specifically to link the well to the wider gas transmission and distribution network system.
Beyond gas, the well is now producing 750 barrels of light crude oil daily, marking the first-ever oil extraction recorded from this particular location.
Production at Faiz X-1 officially commenced on 25 February 2026, with output being scaled upward gradually in carefully planned and phased operational stages.
