Sindh Police has introduced a security support initiative for citizens carrying large amounts of cash after withdrawing money from banks, amid growing concerns over street crimes targeting bank customers.
The move comes following repeated incidents involving individuals being robbed shortly after leaving bank branches with cash.
As part of the awareness campaign, police have placed banners outside banks through local station house officers (SHOs), encouraging citizens to request police assistance when transporting substantial cash amounts.
Officials said the initiative is intended to improve public safety and reduce the risk of muggings and cash-related robberies.
Despite the availability of the service, reports suggest that public participation remains limited, with many citizens not yet using the facility.
Observers believe the low response reflects continued concerns over public confidence in policing, even as authorities present the measure as a preventive step to enhance citizen security.
The Sindh Police says the initiative will continue as part of broader efforts to address urban street crime and improve public protection.
