The Sindh government has announced a major expansion of public transport across the province, unveiling plans for double-decker buses, an electric vehicle taxi service, new Peoples Bus Service routes, and accelerated work on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects.
The announcement came during a review meeting chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, where officials briefed him on the progress of ongoing and upcoming transport initiatives.
Among the key updates, officials confirmed that the Peoples Bus Service will soon be extended to the Qambar Shahdadkot–Larkana route, with preparations for the new route already underway.
Officials also reported that arrangements for the induction of double-decker buses are being finalised, alongside a detailed operational plan for the province’s upcoming EV taxi service.
Memon directed authorities to ensure all logistical and administrative arrangements for new bus routes are completed without delay, emphasising that the broader goal of expanding the Peoples Bus Service network is to improve access to affordable, reliable transport for the public.
The minister further announced that a pink scooty distribution drive will be held in Mirpurkhas on September 5, part of the provincial government’s ongoing initiative to promote women’s mobility.
He also ordered that work on BRT projects be expedited, instructing relevant departments to maintain close coordination to prevent delays in execution.
