Sony to launch bezel-less Xperia XZ Premium variant in 2018

It is sad but true that Sony makes some of the ugliest looking smartphones in the industry. While every brand that matters jumped on the bezel-less design vogue, Sony still insists on keeping the old school design principles. Well, it is not alone of course Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL also have big fat bezels.

In spite of the reports about a complete redesign of 2018, the lineup of Sony emerged some weeks ago, we’re still not convinced that Sony will steer its focus into the right direction. Well, the following information leaked today might put some of our fears to rest, as Sony does seem to have changed its design policy.

An image supposedly showing the specs sheet of the unannounced Sony smartphone with model number H8541 has just surfaced from China. Sony H8541 seems to be the company’s first 2018 flagship which will accompany a 5.7-inch display with 4K resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 covering.

Sony could be earlier precautious about this trend, as the hunger for bezel-less display has been a disappointment for some flagships like Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2. Who could’ve imagined for simply capturing a selfie you have to move your phone upside down.

Furthermore, the leak suggests that smartphone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal memory. Sony H8541 is smaller and thinner than the Xperia XZ Premium, even though the older version has a much larger display.

The edge-to-edge displays have changed the way a smartphone looks like. The bezel-less screen is next innovation in design, we surely look forward in 2018 for mid-range phones too.
