The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has officially granted the final No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the Ufone and Telenor merger. However, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) is currently in the process to get approval from the court. Once the court grants this legal clearance, the two telecom operators will officially merge.
Consequently, the Telenor brand will permanently dissolve. Hatim Bamatraf, CEO and President of PTCL, recently confirmed this major development.

The actual Ufone-Telenor merger will not happen overnight. First, the two companies must go through a full operational integration. This complex process will take several months to complete.
After completing this operational phase, Telenor will formally dissolve. This marks the final stage of the acquisition, after which Telenor will completely cease to exist as a separate entity in Pakistan.
This integration will drastically shift the local telecom market. Ultimately, the newly merged company will command a massive user base of 73 million customers. A significant majority of these subscribers are prepaid 4G users. Furthermore, this combined entity will control the largest network infrastructure in the entire country.
Currently, executives have not finalized a new brand name for the merged company. They will make this critical decision only after securing all required regulatory and legal approvals. Until then, the industry watches closely as Telenor prepares to exit the market.
