Ufone has moved within striking distance of Jazz in Pakistan’s cellular market following its merger with Telenor Pakistan. The latest figures show just a 0.07 percentage point difference between the two operators in September 2026.
According to the latest cellular market share data, Ufone held 36.08% of the market in September. Jazz remained slightly ahead with a 36.15% share, putting both operators almost level in the competition for market leadership.
The shift follows the consolidation of Telenor Pakistan with Ufone. As a result, Ufone’s market share jumped from 15.05% in August to 36.08% in September. The acquisition has significantly strengthened its position in the country’s telecom sector.
The merger has also reshaped the ranking of Pakistan’s cellular operators. Ufone has moved from fourth place to become Jazz’s closest competitor, creating a market dominated by two nearly equal players.
Meanwhile, Zong retained its position as Pakistan’s third-largest cellular operator. However, its market share edged down from 26.83% in August to 26.78% in September.
The Special Communications Organization (SCO) accounted for the remaining 1% of the market in September. Its share had stood at 1.01% in August. The consolidation has reduced the number of major cellular operators competing in Pakistan. It has also brought Ufone and Jazz into a much closer contest for the largest market share.
The narrow gap could increase competition between the two operators. Network investment, service quality, and pricing are likely to remain key areas of focus. The rollout of next-generation mobile services, including 5G, could also shape their competition.
