Vivo expands S-series lineup with new variant, but update is almost too subtle to notice. Following the December launch of the vivo S50 alongside the vivo S50 Pro mini, the company has now introduced the vivo S50t. The device looks identical to its predecessor at first glance, and in most respects it is.
The difference comes down to a single internal change. While the S50 features UFS 4.1 storage, the S50t switches to UFS 3.1. This older standard is slower but also more cost-effective. Apart from this adjustment, everything else remains unchanged across both models.
As a result, the S50t carries the same hardware profile. It features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 1260×2750 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device runs on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, paired with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM. Storage is fixed at 512GB.
Camera performance also stays consistent. The phone includes a 50MP main sensor with OIS. In addition, it offers a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS. An 8MP ultrawide camera is also present. On the front, users get a 50MP selfie camera.
Battery capacity is another highlight. The S50t packs a 6,500 mAh battery and supports 90W wired charging. This setup mirrors what the S50 already delivers.
However, pricing sets the two apart slightly. The S50t starts at CNY 3,199 ($468) for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage version. Meanwhile, the 16GB RAM variant costs CNY 3,499 ($512). In both cases, it undercuts the S50 by CNY 100 ($14).
In short, the S50t offers the same experience as the S50, with a small compromise in storage speed and a slightly lower price.
