Forza Horizon 6 enjoyed a massive launch. Fans eagerly explored Playground Games’ new vision of Japan. In fact, the game nearly hit 200,000 concurrent players on Steam during Early Access alone. However, the launch was not completely flawless.
About a week after release, a severe bug emerged. It completely wiped players’ entire campaign progress. Playground Games acknowledged the problem quickly and released an initial patch. Unfortunately, this early fix only reduced the frequency of the save corruption.
Recently, the official Forza Support account finally announced a permanent solution. Players can now download a new Xbox Series X/S console update. According to the developers, this resolves specific data loss scenarios. Furthermore, Microsoft rolled out a secondary Xbox system change to drastically reduce the likelihood of overall save data loss.
A new XBOX console update is now available to download on XBOX Series X|S consoles that resolves some of the known data loss scenarios in #ForzaHorizon6.

A New Failsafe for Players
If the game still loses your data, a new failsafe now kicks in. The game will display a warning message the next time you load in. Then, you can select the Xbox cloud save option to restore your most recent data. Consequently, players might lose a single session’s progress, but they will no longer lose their entire campaign.
Unfortunately, Microsoft kept the recent June 30 patch notes incredibly vague. The official notes only mention “General stability and performance improvements.” Therefore, players must simply trust the studio’s word that the bug is neutralized for good.
Forza Horizon 6 AI Difficulty & Broken Economies
Save wipes were not the only problem impacting Forza Horizon 6 at launch. Players also faced overtuned Drivatar AI. These aggressive AI racers made events unreasonably difficult. One specific drivatar, named “Bowie_knife99,” even became a community meme for constantly ruining races. Thankfully, Playground Games recently deployed an update to bring these racers back in line.
Additionally, a massive exploit broke “The Eliminator” battle royale mode. Players used this exploit to farm billions in in-game currency. This effectively destroyed the Forza Horizon 6 Auction House economy. In response, the studio temporarily disabled the mode to build a fix. Eventually, they patched the exploit and brought the mode back online. To apologize for the trouble, Playground Games gave all players a free 2021 McLaren Sabre.
