Zong, the only telecom operator in the country to have secured a 4G LTE license during the much-anticipated NGMS Licenses Auction earlier this year has officially launched its 4G LTE service in Pakistan. This makes Zong the first telco in the country to have officially launched the 4G LTE services, and only the second one besides Warid Telecom to have a license allowing it to test and deploy LTE services across the country.
The official announcement was made at a press launch ceremony at PC Hotel, Karachi this Saturday. At the press conference, Dr. Fan Yunjun, CEO, Zong briefed the media regarding the telco’s plans and launch details. According to Dr. Yunjun, in the first phase, Zong is launching the high-speed LTE services in 7 cities, namely Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Peshawar and Quetta, and the coverage of both Super 3G and 4G LTE from Zong will be expanded gradually in the months to follow. “The initial launch targets the 7 major cities, where we have the vast network coverage which ensures the availability of the fastest data speeds,” said Dr. Yunjun.
Moreover, Dr. Yunjun expressed confidence in his team and company’s resources; he remarked that Zong’s technical and commercial teams are fully up to the challenge, and that the roll-out of Zong 4G LTE will help consumers take advantage of lightning fast mobile internet speed that is multiple times faster than the available 3G networks.
He further added: “Soon enough we shall expand both our Super 3G and 4G LTE services to other cities and towns in a bid to provide the benefits of high speed internet to the maximum number of Pakistanis. 4G LTE will help reshape the lives of the consumer and provide services never experienced before in the Pakistani Telecom industry.”
Dr. Yunjun also mentioned that alongside the 4G LTE services, the telecom operator will also offer a 4G-enabled handset—the M811—for its users to fully enjoy the bouquet of all services that the ultra-speed network can offer. He also referred to the 3rd party network tests and consumer surveys where Zong came out on top for its unmatched Super 3G speeds and was heralded as the best 3G service provider while enjoying the majority 47% votes from telecom subscribers in the country.
Zong will be offering several high-speed 4G internet packages at launch, which include:
- Monthly Premium 2GB: Rs. 350 per month
- Monthly Premium 4GB: Rs. 650 per month
- Monthly Premium 10GB: Rs. 1500 per month
- Monthly Premium 20GB: Rs. 2500 per month
- Monthly Premium 30GB: Rs. 3500 per month
In order to use Zong’s 4G LTE services, users will need a 4G-enabled smartphone and a 4G SIM which can be ordered by filling-out a form at Zong’s official website or visiting the nearest Sales & Service Center.
