Snap Introduces ‘Challenge Tags’ Rewards Program for AR Developers
Snap announced the launch of a new rewards program titled “Challenge Tags,” designed to incentivize augmented reality developers by offering cash incentives for the submission of Lenses. Furthermore, the company announced the introduction of educational pricing and a student discount for Spectacles, its augmented reality (AR) spectacles designed for developers.
The developer of the first-place Lens will receive a monetary award of $2,500, whereas the individuals securing second and third places will be awarded $1,500 and $1,000, respectively. Twenty distinguished commendations will each receive a monetary award of $250.
Developers need to take part in each monthly challenge to create Lenses using Snap’s Lens Studio and should add the specific Challenge Tag when they share their Lenses. Judges evaluate entries based on how creative and skilled they are, as well as how well they fit the theme. The AR marketing tool Lenslist allows developers from more than 100 countries to join this programming system by partnering with Snap.
Developers’ company Spectacles is now available for buy at a discount for students and educators from Snap. Students and their teachers can buy spectacles for $49.50 or €55 each month through a special educational plan. This plan reduces the regular price of $99 for a single contract. Customers in the US, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, and the Netherlands can take advantage of this promotional price for spectacles.
