The National Highways Authority (NHA) has recently announced a significant change in its toll collection system, aiming to enhance efficiency and promote the adoption of electronic tolling.

Nha Announces 25 Surcharge On Toll Fees For Vehicles Without M Tag

Motorcyclists who do not use M-Tags or do not have enough money in their accounts now risk a 25% increase in toll payments, with a minimum levy of Rs 50. The new payment calculations will exceed existing toll tolls with additional charges starting at Rs. 50 while keeping the old fee rates. 50. The project intends to increase M-Tag adoption through widespread acceptance because M-Tags are predicted to improve toll payment efficiency and plaza traffic flow.

According to NHA authorities, proper execution of this regulatory strategy will result in full M-Tag system adoption, improved traffic flow, reduced fuel usage, and optimized toll operations. The authority expects that these adjustments will increase commuter comfort while also reducing safety hazards by eliminating human-operated toll transactions.

Motorists are urged to ensure that their M-Tags are activated and properly funded to avoid the additional surcharge. This decision is in line with international trends towards electronic tolling systems, which are considered the future of toll collection and road management.
