Pakistan Welcomes Chinese Firm for Local Laptop Manufacturing

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, held a meeting on Monday with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chinese laptop manufacturer HYF to discuss setting up a laptop and tablet manufacturing industry in Pakistan.

According to an official statement, HYF specializes in producing laptops, fingerprint devices, and tablets. The SAPM emphasized that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed authorities to provide maximum support to Chinese investors, assuring them that their investments in Pakistan will remain secure.

He further noted that the government, under the prime minister’s vision, will soon introduce a Mobile Device Policy that will also cover laptops and tablets to encourage local manufacturing.

Highlighting investor facilitation, Haroon said Pakistan has improved its visa policy for Chinese investors, enabling the issuance of visit and business visas within 24 to 72 hours.

To ensure smooth progress, the SAPM directed the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) and the Engineering Development Board (EDB) to extend full cooperation to HYF for the successful launch of the laptop manufacturing project in Pakistan.
