iPhone Fold

Apple’s long-awaited entry into the foldable phone market may finally arrive next year with what insiders are calling the iPhone Fold. A new leak suggests Apple plans to use a mix of titanium and aluminum for the phone’s frame, marking a significant design decision for the company.

This shift in materials is notable given Apple’s recent experimentation with its premium lineup. The Pro iPhones transitioned from stainless steel to titanium not long ago, before reverting to aluminum in this year’s iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models.

Earlier reports from well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had indicated that the iPhone Fold would rely entirely on titanium for its body, with the hinge built from a combination of titanium and aluminum. The latest leak appears to challenge that prediction, suggesting either a change in Apple’s design direction or a misunderstanding among supply chain sources.

The upcoming foldable is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.8-inch main foldable screen. Unlike current iPhones, it may drop Face ID in favor of Touch ID. Apple is also said to be tailoring iOS 27, expected to launch alongside the device next year, to include exclusive features that take advantage of the iPhone Fold’s dual-display design, a first for the iPhone lineup.
