Punjab Govt To Fully Digitize Toll Plazas Across Province

The Punjab government has announced plans to fully digitize toll plazas across the province, marking a major step toward transparency and convenience for travelers.

The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, where officials approved the complete elimination of manual receipts at toll booths. Under the new model, a digital system will replace paper slips to streamline toll collection and minimize human intervention.

According to officials, a “One App, One System” model, similar to the one used on motorways, will be launched at 38 toll plazas across Punjab. The initiative aims to make travel smoother and ensure accurate revenue collection through automated monitoring.

During the meeting, officials also briefed the chief minister on ongoing and upcoming development projects covering transport, construction, energy conservation, and urban beautification.

CM Approves Five Major Road Projects Under PPP Model

Maryam Nawaz approved five major road projects under the public-private partnership model, emphasizing that collaboration with private firms would reduce costs and accelerate project completion.

It was also highlighted that Punjab has saved Rs40 billion through e-tendering, demonstrating enhanced transparency in public procurement. The chief minister directed that solar streetlights be installed on newly constructed roads to promote eco-friendly and energy-efficient infrastructure.

Additionally, several beautification projects for Lahore were approved, including a new fountain and a children’s miniature train in the park near the railway station. Construction of new roads and footpaths within a three-kilometer radius of the station will also be undertaken.

The meeting further revealed that 54 major bridges, 142 small bridges, and 858 roads damaged during recent floods have been fully restored, while road rehabilitation projects in Murree, Chakwal, and Sahiwal have been completed.
