Apple’s Next MacBook Pro Redesign Could Finally Add Touchscreen and OLED Display. Apple, latest 14-inch MacBook Pro may have just arrived with an upgraded M5 processor, faster storage, and a bold claim of 24-hour battery life.
Reports indicate that Apple is preparing a full-scale redesign of the MacBook Pro for 2026, after pushing back its original late 2025 target due to OLED supply delays. Codenamed K114 and K116, the upcoming models are expected to introduce long-awaited features like touchscreens, OLED panels, and a lighter, thinner chassis, all firsts for Apple’s pro laptops.
While touchscreen notebooks are common in the Windows ecosystem, Apple has resisted the idea for years, opting instead for the short-lived Touch Bar before removing it in 2021. Gurman says Apple is now rethinking that approach, though features like Face ID authentication, also long requested, are still years away.
In the meantime, Apple will reportedly release updated MacBook Pros early next year featuring M5 Pro and M5 Max chips while retaining the current design. Updated MacBook Air, Mac Studio, Mac Mini, and two new monitors are also in the pipeline.
Looking further ahead, the redesigned MacBook Pro with M6 processors, a hole-punch style front camera inspired by the iPhone’s Dynamic Island, and reinforced hinges for better touchscreen stability could mark Apple’s biggest laptop transformation in years.
According to the source, these next-gen MacBook Pros will likely cost a few hundred dollars more than today’s models, and the upgrades might not trickle down to Apple’s more affordable laptops anytime soon, signaling that Apple plans to keep its most advanced hardware exclusive to the premium Pro lineup for the foreseeable future.
