Pakistani Rupee Extends Record 54-Day Winning Streak Against US Dollar
The Pakistani rupee continued its upward momentum on Monday, recording its 54th consecutive positive close against the US Dollar, even as it slipped slightly against several other major currencies. The currency ended the day at 280.41 per USD, maintaining the longest streak of stability seen this year.
Despite mild pressure from global currency movements, the rupee managed to stay firm against the US Dollar. Forex dealers said the local currency showed “silent resilience,” supported by consistent inflows, improved administrative control, and a stable interbank market.
Experts caution that the streak may be reaching its natural limit. One market analyst said the rupee’s ongoing rise is “a slowly inflating bubble that will eventually meet resistance,” suggesting that external shocks or policy changes could trigger a correction.
