Punjab Declares Public Holidays on Dec 25 and 26
The Punjab government has officially announced public holidays on December 25 and December 26 to mark Quaid-e-Azam Day and Boxing Day, respectively. The decision, confirmed through an official notification, allows citizens to observe important national and religious occasions across the province.
According to the notification reported by Officials, December 25 will be observed as a province-wide public holiday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. Government offices, educational institutions, and most private establishments across Punjab will remain closed, except for essential services.
Meanwhile, December 26 has been declared a special public holiday for the Christian community in Punjab on the occasion of Boxing Day. The holiday aims to facilitate Christian employees in observing the day following Christmas, reflecting the government’s commitment to religious inclusivity.
Official notifications confirming both holidays have been issued by the Punjab government. Earlier, the Sindh government had also declared December 25 and December 26 as public holidays. Sindh’s Services, General Administration and Coordination Department stated that December 25 would be observed province-wide, while December 26 would apply specifically to Christian employees, with essential services remaining operational.
The announcements across provinces highlight coordinated efforts to respect national heritage and religious observances while ensuring continuity of critical services.
