The National Information Technology Board (NITB) has introduced a new advanced security testing tool to strengthen the cybersecurity of government digital services and software, helping protect critical public-sector systems from cyberattacks.
The newly acquired tool is designed to identify security vulnerabilities during the software development process, allowing technical teams to detect and fix weaknesses before applications are deployed. The move is aimed at improving the resilience of government platforms against evolving cyber threats.
To support the rollout, NITB recently organized a hands-on training and demonstration session for its software developers, quality assurance engineers, and technical officials. During the session, participants were introduced to the tool’s capabilities and learned how to integrate security testing into the software development lifecycle.
Experts demonstrated various methods for scanning applications for security flaws, identifying and reporting vulnerabilities at an early stage, and implementing secure coding practices. The training also emphasized the importance of conducting security assessments before software is released to reduce potential risks.
Officials said incorporating security checks throughout the development process will help ensure vulnerabilities are detected and addressed before government applications reach end users, resulting in safer and more reliable digital services.
According to NITB, the new security testing solution will enhance its overall cybersecurity framework and support the delivery of secure, resilient, and trustworthy digital services across the public sector.
The initiative is part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to strengthen cybersecurity infrastructure and improve the protection of government digital systems against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
