Punjab’s students and parents now have clarity on the winter vacation schedule, as the provincial government confirmed that schools will reopen on January 19. The announcement comes after the government had previously extended winter holidays due to a severe cold spell.
Punjab Education Minister Sikandar Hayat stated that all public and private schools across the province will resume classes as planned, and there will be no further extension of winter vacations.
The winter break for schools began on December 20, 2025, with students initially given 30 days of holidays. According to the minister, students have already utilized 27 of those days, leaving only a few remaining days before reopening.
Authorities had decided to extend the holidays earlier this month after unusually cold weather disrupted normal school operations in several areas. The extension had sparked widespread speculation among parents and students about a possible further delay.
Minister Hayat urged parents and students to prepare for the upcoming school term and emphasized that the academic calendar will continue as scheduled without any additional adjustments.
The government’s decision brings an end to uncertainty, ensuring that students across Punjab will return to classrooms in a timely manner, marking the conclusion of this year’s winter break.
