Punjab has successfully connected more than 30,000 public and private educational institutions to the Safe City system, aiming to strengthen security and enable real-time monitoring across the province.
Under this initiative, representatives of schools, colleges, and universities are required to update their security status three times a day through a dedicated Public Safety App, allowing authorities to monitor safety conditions with a single click.
Officials said the Virtual Centre for Educational Security has been made fully operational, ensuring a coordinated approach to protecting students, staff, and campus facilities.
So far, over 130,000 teachers and security personnel have been registered under the system, and installation of the Public Safety App has been made mandatory for all institutional staff. In the event of a threat or emergency, the system can automatically issue alerts to the relevant authorities.
As part of the project, educational institutions’ CCTV cameras are being linked to the Safe City network for live monitoring, and the installation of panic buttons is in its final stage.
Officials expressed confidence that the virtual security center will not only enhance protection but also assist in the investigation of security-related incidents. The authorities emphasized that the program is part of a broader effort to modernize public safety in Punjab and strengthen preventive measures within educational institutions.
