The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially announced the 16-player Pakistan Shaheens squad today for the upcoming white-ball series against the England Lions. The highly anticipated Pakistan vs England emerging series features both Twenty20 (T20) and One-Day (50-over) formats and will take place entirely at the Stadium Oval in Abu Dhabi.
Shamyl Hussain Takes the Lead
Left-handed batter Shamyl Hussain will captain the side for both the T20 and ODI series. He is the son of Syed Talat Hussain, a notable Pakistani journalist, YouTuber, and former cricketer. Shamyl Hussain has been a standout performer for Pakistan Television (PTV) during the ongoing President’s Trophy Grade-I 2025/26, serving as their captain and primary top-order batter.
Shamyl Hussain leads a strong batting unit that includes Abdul Samad, Hasan Nawaz, and Saad Khan. Maaz Sadaqat, the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars Player of the Tournament, also joins the batting lineup to add depth.
The squad features an exciting family duo as well. Pakistan Under-19 batter Sameer Minhas joins his brother, Arafat Minhas, in the line-up. Both brothers aim to build on their impressive performances from the ICC Under-19 World Cup and the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars.
For wicketkeeping duties, the selectors have picked Rohail Nazir and Saad Baig.
Bowling & PCB Support Staff
The Shaheens boast a diverse bowling attack. The spin department features Arafat Minhas, leg-spinner Saad Masood, and left-arm wrist-spinner Sufiyan Muqeem. Meanwhile, the fast-bowling group includes Under-19 pacer Ali Raza alongside Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Mohammad Salman, and Shahid Aziz.
Off the field, former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed will travel as the team mentor and manager. Former Test cricketer Ijaz Ahmed Jr takes charge as head coach, supported by bowling coach Aizaz Cheema and fielding coach Mansoor Amjad. Before flying to the UAE, the team will assemble for a seven-day training camp in Karachi from February 11 to 17.
