The legendary assassin finally receives a high-budget gaming adaptation. Saber Interactive officially announced an “Untitled John Wick Game” during the recent Sony State of Play. This project marks the franchise’s first foray into AAA development. Consequently, the game will launch on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
Original Script & Cinematic Combat
This upcoming title is not a direct adaptation of the movies. Instead, it features an original script set within the established John Wick timeline. Director Chad Stahelski is collaborating with Saber Interactive and Lionsgate to ensure authenticity. Furthermore, Keanu Reeves officially lends his voice, likeness, and more to the protagonist.
The announcement trailer showcases a mix of pre-rendered scenes and in-engine footage. It highlights the franchise’s signature “gun fu” combat and brutal finishers. Beyond combat, players can expect immersive driving experiences and variety across several environments. The developer also confirmed that fans will see familiar faces alongside entirely new characters.
Saber Interactive’s High-Stakes Pipeline
This reveal confirms plans first teased during Lionsgate’s late 2025 earnings call. During that call, head Adam Fogelson hinted at the pursuit of AAA opportunities for both John Wick and Saw. While a Saw project remains unseen, the Wick adaptation is now official.
Saber Interactive is currently managing a massive portfolio of licensed games. The studio recently found success with 2024’s Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Additionally, they are developing the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, Jurassic Park Survival, Hellraiser, and Turok: Origins.
The Evolution of John Wick Gaming
Historically, the franchise has struggled to find its footing in the gaming world. Two previous attempts received mixed reviews. John Wick Chronicles (2017) was a poorly received VR title. Later, John Wick Hex (2019) offered a turn-based strategy approach.
