Warhorse Studios has officially shadow-dropped the long-awaited next-gen update for the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Patch 1.9.7 is massive. It finally brings the acclaimed medieval RPG to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S with significant technical overhauls.
This update capitalises on the massive success of the 2025 sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. If you already own the game on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, this upgrade is completely free.
Massive Visual & Performance Boosts
The technical leap is substantial. The game now targets a smooth 60 FPS on current-gen consoles. Previously, the title struggled on older hardware, but Warhorse has optimised the CryEngine specifically for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Visually, the console versions now match PC “Ultra” quality settings. The native resolution has jumped to 1440p (2560×1440). Furthermore, the game utilises AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) v1.2 to upscale the final image to a crisp 4K (3840×2160). Asset quality, including textures and models, has been increased across the board.
Save Transfers & New Features
You do not need to restart your journey. Warhorse has implemented seamless cross-generation save transfers. Players can carry their “playlines” from PS4 and Xbox One directly to the new consoles.
Additionally, the developer added full Czech and Japanese voice-overs. For collectors, signing up for a Deep Silver account now grants a unique horse caparison, available in the player stash after the prologue.
Critical Bug Fixes in Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Patch 1.9.7 is not just about graphics… it fixes legacy issues that plagued the original release. The update resolves the infamous infinite loading screens during the “Run!” and “Siege” quests, bugs that previously bricked save files.
Other stability improvements include:
- Fixed multiple crashes during the “Baptism of Fire” quest.
- Resolved memory leaks and texture garbage collector crashes.
- Fixed deadlock issues in physics synchronisation.
- Corrected “Quilted Vest” glitches that made Henry’s arms transparent.
With the sequel recently nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2025, now is the perfect time to revisit Bohemia. The original title is also currently available on Xbox Game Pass.
