The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced a two-week closure of all schools, colleges and educational institutions under its administrative control from March 16 to March 31, 2026. The move comes as part of the government’s broader austerity and fuel conservation measures aimed at reducing energy consumption across public sector institutions.
According to an official notification issued by the Academics Wing of the Federal Directorate of Education, the decision follows directives conveyed through a Cabinet Division notification dated March 9 regarding the implementation of fuel-saving measures in government departments.
Under the directive, all academic institutions functioning under the FDE will suspend regular on-campus classes during the specified period. However, the notification clarifies that examination-related activities will continue without disruption.
Institutions have been instructed to proceed with examinations according to their already approved schedules. This includes the conduct of exams, checking of answer scripts and the compilation of results, ensuring that the academic calendar is not significantly affected.
