The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has connected 35,953 branches of retailers, restaurants, and textile outlets to its Point of Sales (POS) system by April 2026.
The FBR registered a total of 12,950 businesses, including big retailers, textile and leather outlets, and restaurants, with its POS system by April 1, 2026.
The integration drive is aimed at documenting financial transactions carried out by Tier-I retailers and registered hotels and restaurants across Pakistan’s formal economy.
Tier-I retailers lead the numbers
A total of 11,376 Tier-I retailers were registered with the POS system of the authority, according to the official list compiled by the tax authority by April 1.
The 11,376 registered Tier-I retailers operate across 23,784 branches, all of which have been successfully integrated into the FBR’s digital transaction monitoring system.
Restaurants and food sector
A total of 1,013 restaurants were formally registered with the FBR’s Point of Sales system by the April 1, 2026 reporting deadline set by the authority.
Those 1,013 registered restaurants operate across 1,543 separate branches, each of which has been connected to and integrated with the central POS system.
Textile and leather retailers
The FBR registered 561 textile and leather retailers into its POS system as part of the ongoing national retail documentation and tax compliance programme in Pakistan.
Despite the relatively small number of registered firms, those 561 businesses collectively operate 10,626 branches that are now linked to the FBR’s integration system.
