Battlefield 6 is officially winding down Season 2. Yesterday, on May 5, 2026, Battlefield Studios deployed Battlefield 6 Update 1.2.3.5. This final patch delivers crucial quality-of-life improvements. It prepares the game for the highly anticipated Season 3 launch next week.
The shooter launched late last year to massive success. It quickly sold 20 million units and outpaced Call of Duty. However, the active player count plateaued shortly after. Furthermore, Battlefield Studios faced company layoffs earlier in 2026. Now, players actively demand more maps and better gameplay variety. Therefore, developers hope the upcoming season will correct the franchise’s course.
Battlefield 6 Update 1.2.3.5: Crucial Quality of Life Adjustments
Update 1.2.3.5 is a relatively small patch. Yet, it brings significant under-the-hood changes. Developers mainly focused on gameplay stability and netcode synchronization. Previously, players experienced frustrating deaths after running behind cover. The new update fixes this desynchronized camera transition between the first-person and third-person stances. Consequently, the game now offers a smoother and fairer combat experience.
The patch also resolves multiple progression and UI bugs. For instance, using the third weapon slot as Assault no longer grants XP to the wrong weapon. Furthermore, developers updated vehicle names, squad icons, and Operation Augur’s progression UI. Bots also received logic tweaks. They will now redeploy much less frequently. Finally, the update fixes a freezing issue that occurred when players resumed the game from a suspended state.
REDSEC Mode Enhancements
The popular REDSEC mode received notable refinements. Spectating controls now correctly use “Q” and “E” to cycle between enemies, rather than “A” and “D”.
Additionally, the patch fixes several visual glitches. The camera no longer clips beneath the Armored Transport in the Gauntlet mode. Also, DMR meshes correctly stay visible after reviving a player from a down-but-not-out state. Furthermore, weapon models will no longer turn invisible during the Gauntlet briefing customization screen.
Looking Ahead to Season 3
Next week, on May 12, Season 3 officially launches. This 12-week season introduces Ranked Play and a brand-new Solo mode for Battlefield REDSEC. Furthermore, players will unlock new weapons, modes, and cosmetics.
Most importantly, Season 3 introduces two maps. Developers are bringing back Golmud Railway from Battlefield 4. This returning classic will become the largest map in Battlefield 6. Additionally, an updated version of Grand Bazaar, newly named Cairo Bazaar, joins the rotation.
Despite these updates, community sentiment remains mixed. Many fans feel that adding only two maps is inadequate for a game of this size. Moreover, players dislike that neither map is an original creation. Hopefully, Golmud Railway and Cairo Bazaar will introduce enough gameplay variety to keep fans engaged throughout the summer.
