The Punjab Government officially announced summer vacations today. All public and private educational institutions will close. This mandatory directive includes schools and colleges across the province. Consequently, the extended summer break begins today, May 22, 2026.
Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat finalized this decision for schools. The province currently faces rising temperatures and intense heatwaves. Therefore, the government actively prioritized the health and safety of students and teaching staff. Officials scheduled this extended break specifically to avoid the peak summer months.
Meanwhile, the Higher Education Department released its own official notification for the summer vacations. All government and private sector colleges will shut down. These college closures will last from May 22, 2026, to August 22, 2026. However, the government outlined specific exceptions to this rule. The BS 4-year programs will continue regular classes. Furthermore, boards and universities will conduct all examinations exactly as scheduled.
Schools will remain closed for three full months. Parents and students must prepare for this long break accordingly. Finally, regular academic activities will resume in late August. All schools and colleges will officially reopen their doors on Monday, August 24, 2026.
