NetEase just unleashed a massive wave of bans in Marvel Rivals. The developer permanently banned 504 players. These players used exploits, cheats, and unauthorized client modifications. Consequently, the studio is now threatening extreme penalties for future offenders to protect the game’s competitive integrity.
Zero Tolerance on Cheating
NetEase is taking a strict stance against unfair play. Furthermore, the company announced that cheat distributors and repeat offenders will face massive punishments. These new penalties include account bans, IP bans, and full hardware device bans. The developer stated that maintaining a fair arena remains its primary directive.
Interestingly, a quick look at the data tells a specific story. Most of the banned accounts never even passed the lowest competitive ranks below Bronze or Silver. Very few players reached elite tiers like One Above All or Grandmaster. Therefore, cheaters are clearly getting caught on burner accounts before they can ruin high-level matches.
Marvel Rivals Crushing the Anti-Cheat Rumors
Recently, the launch of Season 8 brought heavy scrutiny to the game’s kernel-level security. Twitch streamer Jay3OW fueled rumors that players could easily bypass or “delete” the anti-cheat. However, NetEase completely shut down these claims yesterday.
The developer officially labeled the rumors as “completely false“. They clarified that specific launch parameters circulating online only hide the security pop-up window. They absolutely do not deactivate the software. Ultimately, the anti-cheat launches alongside the game client and cannot be disabled independently.
Unresolved Issues & Upcoming Content
Meanwhile, the community is celebrating the ban wave. Still, many players remain frustrated. They want harsher penalties for chat toxicity, throwers, and smurfs. Competing games like Overwatch have struggled with these exact issues for a decade, and NetEase has yet to outline a concrete plan for these lesser offenses.
Despite these hurdles, Marvel Rivals Season 8 continues to expand. The season recently introduced Cyclops and Devil Dinosaur. Soon, fans will get a brand-new map named Alchemx Headquarters. Additionally, fresh skins for Wolverine, Black Cat, Iron Man, and Mantis will drop shortly. Finally, players can expect the Season 8.5 roadmap to arrive later this summer.
