If you plan to buy a Honda CD70, Suzuki GS150, or any other petrol motorcycle, prepare to pay more. The upcoming federal budget 2026-27 could make your purchase significantly more expensive. Starting this July, motorcycle prices in Pakistan might rise by up to Rs. 16,000.
Here is exactly what is changing and how much extra you will have to pay.
Why Are Motorcycle Prices Going Up?
The primary reason is a proposed tax hike. The government plans to adjust the Climate Support Levy. Currently, buyers pay a 1% federal tax on the invoice price of all combustion-engine vehicles, including motorcycles.
However, the proposed budget aims to triple this rate to 3%. Consequently, all petrol bikes will see a mandatory price jump as soon as the new budget takes effect in July 2026.
While budget discussions usually focus on cars, motorcycles remain Pakistan’s top-selling vehicles. Every month, millions of working-class citizens rely on them. Furthermore, gig workers, including food delivery and bike taxi riders, depend heavily on entry-level models like the Honda CD70. Unfortunately, this specific model will likely see a price hike of at least Rs. 3,100.
Moreover, the middle class already suffers from double taxation. Consider the current petrol prices. When you pay Rs. 377 per liter, the actual fuel cost is only Rs. 235. The government takes the rest through a petroleum levy, a carbon tax, and a sales tax.
On top of that, buying a bike involves multiple taxes. Buyers pay a sales tax, withholding tax, registration tax, excise tax, and the climate support levy. Therefore, tripling this levy adds a heavy hit to already-burdened citizens.
Expected Price Jumps for Popular Bikes
If the National Assembly approves this 3% rate, major manufacturers like Honda, Suzuki, and Hi-Speed will immediately update their official prices.
