Fans expecting new Resident Evil Requiem content must wait much longer than expected. Resident Evil Requiem introduced a thrilling story featuring Leon Kennedy and newcomer Grace Ashcroft. Consequently, players eagerly wanted more. Capcom and game director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed a story expansion back in March. However, a recent leak brings disappointing news regarding its release window.
The Wait for Leon & Grace Continues
The base game’s ending left many lingering questions unanswered. Therefore, a story expansion feels inevitable. As a result, fans constantly ask when this new chapter will arrive. Neither Capcom nor Nakanishi provided an official release date. Now, the latest rumors suggest the next chapter is far away.
Well-known leaker Dusk Golem recently took to Twitter with a bold claim. He stated the Resident Evil Requiem story DLC will not launch until after Resident Evil Veronica hits the market. Capcom officially announced this long-awaited Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake at this year’s Summer Game Fest. The compelling trailer confirmed a 2027 release window.
Word in the grapevine is RE9 DLC is releasing after Resident Evil Veronica. To see how it plays out, but it's been murmured to be further out. https://t.co/upaulhPcTO

Historically, Capcom launches mainline entries and major remakes between January and May. If the company maintains this pattern, players might not see the Requiem DLC until May 2027. Of course, gamers should always take leaks with a grain of salt until Capcom makes an official announcement.
Why Hold the Resident Evil Requiem Expansion Back?
Right now, Capcom keeps its future plans completely unclear. However, pushing the DLC to next year makes strategic sense. The 2026 gaming calendar looks extremely crowded. Capcom likely wants to avoid dropping the expansion alongside other massive titles. Furthermore, Resident Evil Veronica will definitely reignite intense interest in the franchise. Capcom can easily capitalize on that renewed hype with a later DLC release.
Meanwhile, Capcom previously shadow-dropped a new Requiem game mode called “Leon Must Die Forever“. This challenging roguelike mode received mixed reviews from the community. Ultimately, a difficult survival mode cannot scratch the itch for players craving a true narrative continuation.
