Lords of the Fallen 2 will not launch this year. CI Games officially pushed the soulslike sequel out of its Q4 2026 window. The game will now drop in Q1 2027.
CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski broke the news yesterday, June 23, in a post on X. Tyminski cited the need for extra polish as the primary reason. However, he also admitted a more strategic motive. The studio explicitly wants to dodge a highly competitive holiday season.

Lords of the Fallen 2 Escaping the GTA 6 Bloodbath
Publishers know Q4 2026 is a crowded battlefield. Rockstar Games will unleash Grand Theft Auto 6 on November 19. Consequently, the massive anticipation for GTA 6 has turned September into an unusually packed release month. Meanwhile, November and December look remarkably quiet as competitors clear out.
Therefore, CI Games recognized that October was their only realistic option under the old Q4 target. Instead of fighting that uphill battle, the studio chose a strategic repositioning. Moving to Q1 2027 places the game in a much less crowded calendar window.
Beyond the schedule change, Tyminski offered a development update. The studio’s Launch Creative Team includes a dedicated Gameplay Feedback Team. These internal Souls-like veterans identified several areas for improvement that the original release window could not accommodate.
As a result, the developers will use this extra time for integration and iteration. They aim to deliver a standout dark fantasy action RPG. Ultimately, the team wants to ensure the game serves as a worthy successor to the franchise.
Day-One Platforms & Storefront Shift
CI Games originally revealed the RPG at Gamescom in August 2025. Before that, the Polish studio referred to the game only as “Project 3” in a June 2024 investor report.

Currently, Lords of the Fallen 2 targets a day-one release across all major current-generation hardware. Players can expect it on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC.
Furthermore, PC gamers will not have to deal with storefront restrictions. The PC version initially started as an Epic Games Store exclusive because Epic partly financed the project. However, CI Games bought out that publishing agreement in 2025. Therefore, the studio will launch the game directly on Steam and other digital storefronts on day one.
