Hackers disrupted broadcasts on the renowned Indian broadcaster Sun TV Network after breaching its internal broadcast management portal, cybersecurity sources said.
The attack disrupted and altered transmissions across several of the television channels of the network.
During the intrusion, hackers halted regular programming and displayed the Pakistani flag along with banners reading “Pakistan Zindabad” on screen. In a related attack, the hackers also deployed ransomware that locked 1,800 domain systems belonging to the network.
Yesterday, social media claims linked to Indian media reports alleged that unidentified hackers targeted the broadcasts of several Indian news channels, including TV9 Telugu and Freedom TV Kannada.
The reports claimed that the broadcast of TV9 Telugu was briefly interrupted during a speech by the Indian president, with Pakistani national anthem reportedly aired in its place.
However, the incident has not been independently verified, and neither the affected channels nor Indian authorities have issued an official statement.
