A special mobile application has been developed to register small traders and retailers under the Fixed Tax Scheme, with the formal launch scheduled for next week, according to Ministry of Finance sources.
The application will be launched on a trial basis this week to assess its performance, after which formal registration through the app will begin next month, the sources added.
Retailers registered under the scheme will be required to file their tax returns in September.
To facilitate traders across the country, the app will be available in Urdu, English, Sindhi, and Balochi. Retailers who register will be issued a “green plate” by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
FBR has so far received information on more than 3.5 million retailers. Through this registration scheme, the government aims to collect Rs50 billion in tax revenue during the current fiscal year.
