The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board has given final approval to teach Artificial Intelligence to students up to class five, with AI labs set to be established in all primary schools.
According to media reports, the board has formally approved the AI curriculum, and students will begin studying it from the next academic year 2027-28 across the province.
The decision marks a major shift in Punjab primary education, introducing AI concepts to young learners at an early stage. Officials say the new curriculum has cleared all regulatory approvals and is ready for rollout.
Implementation will begin with the start of the upcoming academic session, when AI will become part of the regular syllabus for students up to class five. Primary schools across the province will be equipped with dedicated AI labs to support the new subject.
