Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 series at its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22. Ahead of the launch, a fresh leak has revealed new details about the Galaxy Z Flip8’s design.
According to the source, the Galaxy Z Flip8 could weigh around 180 grams. If accurate, the upcoming foldable will be 8 grams lighter than the Galaxy Z Flip7, which weighs 188 grams.
The difference may not look significant on paper. However, a lighter body could make the device feel more comfortable during daily use, especially for users who carry their phones for long periods.
The tipster also repeated earlier claims about the phone’s thickness. The Galaxy Z Flip8 is reportedly 6.1mm thick when unfolded. However, this measurement does not include the rubber bumper that surrounds the inner display.
When the bumper is included, the phone’s thickness reportedly increases to 6.6mm. That figure is nearly the same as that of the Galaxy Z Flip7.
Previous reports have also suggested that Samsung will improve the hinge mechanism on the new foldable. In addition, the Galaxy Z Flip8 is expected to feature a less noticeable crease on its folding display.
Apart from these refinements, the device may not bring major hardware changes. Leaks indicate that Samsung will keep the same cover display, battery capacity, and camera system found on the Galaxy Z Flip7. Samsung has not confirmed these specifications yet. More details are expected to emerge before the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22.
