The iconic Telenor Pakistan name has disappeared from the company’s Islamabad headquarters, marking the symbolic end of one of Pakistan’s most prominent telecom brands after more than two decades in the country.
Workers were seen removing the Telenor signage from the headquarters following the legal merger of Telenor Pakistaninto Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML) after PTCL Group completed its acquisition of the Norwegian telecom operator.
With the merger now in effect, the Telenor brand is being phased out as the combined company moves towards a unified corporate identity under PTCL Group, bringing an end to a telecom brand that entered Pakistan in 2005.
Over the past two decades, Telenor Pakistan emerged as one of the country’s leading mobile network operators, investing billions of dollars in the local telecom sector, serving more than 40 million subscribers, expanding 4G connectivity, and contributing significantly to competition and digital connectivity across Pakistan.
The removal of the company’s signage represents a major milestone in Pakistan’s telecom industry, signalling the conclusion of the Telenor brand’s presence in the country and the beginning of a new chapter under PTCL Group’s strategy.
The merger is regarded as one of the most significant developments in Pakistan’s telecommunications sector, with the combined operator expected to continue operations under PTCL Group as industry consolidation reshapes the competitive landscape.
