Lahore traffic police impounded a government vehicle over unpaid fines totaling Rs96,000, officials said, after a routine check of its e-challan record uncovered dozens of unresolved violations.
According to City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL), Traffic Officer Irfan Qureshi identified the outstanding dues while inspecting the vehicle in Garhi Shahu. A review of its record showed nine violations for jumping traffic signals, seven for seat-belt breaches and six for disregarding lane markings.
Police said the vehicle was released to its driver only after the full amount of Rs96,000 was paid, in line with standard enforcement procedure for unresolved e-challans.
CTPL officials said such checks are part of ongoing efforts to enforce traffic discipline and recover pending fines from government and private vehicles alike.
