The Artificial Intelligence (AI) syllabus in Punjab for Grades 1 to 5 has been finalised but remains unnotified, delaying the printing of textbooks ahead of the new academic year, 2026-27.
Publishers have called for the immediate notification of the syllabus, warning that only six months remain before the academic year begins and that printing cannot proceed without formal approval.
Provincial Minister for School and Higher Education Punjab Rana Sikandar Hayat had earlier announced that Artificial Intelligence would become a mandatory subject through Grade 5.
The Education Department, however, has clarified that the curriculum will only be sent for printing once it receives approval from the Chief Minister. With the notification still pending, publishers face a narrowing window to prepare and distribute the books before classes resume.
