The Elementary and Secondary Education Department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has imposed a province-wide ban on teacher transfers and postings, set to remain in force until December 31, 2026.
The department confirmed the freeze through an official notification, halting routine staff movements across government schools for more than a year. Officials said the ban is intended to bring stability to teacher deployment across the province during this period.
Under the notification, only three categories of appointments will proceed despite the freeze: teachers due for promotion, newly recruited teachers awaiting their first placement, and postings needed to make newly established schools operational.
By carving out these exemptions, the department aims to ensure that promotions are not stalled, new hires are not left without assignments, and newly built schools can begin functioning without staffing delays, even as general transfer requests remain on hold until 2027.
