Sony is finally changing its strategy. Fans heavily criticized the PlayStation 5 (PS5) for lacking exclusive games compared to previous console generations. Consequently, Sony is pulling back on PC ports. The company wants to deliver pure PS5 exclusives moving forward. Earlier this year, gamers experienced this shift with ‘Saros’. Housemarque delivered this critically acclaimed title. It featured eye-popping visuals and fast-paced, Returnal-style combat in a highly approachable package. Now, Sony is dropping two massive PS5 console exclusives, namely Marvel’s Wolverine and Silent Hill: Townfall, this very month.
September’s PS5 Exclusives: Wolverine & Silent Hill
First up is ‘Marvel’s Wolverine’. Insomniac launches this highly anticipated action adventure next week on September 15. The game shares canon with Insomniac’s wildly successful ‘Spider-Man’ universe. Recently, the title faced some criticism regarding character designs and video game tropes. However, players will soon discover exactly how the final product plays.
Later this month, fans get ‘Silent Hill: Townfall’. Screen Burn Interactive releases this first-person horror game on September 24. It serves as a console exclusive, though PC players will also get access. Players will solve traditional puzzles and evade terrifying creatures in a spooky town. Furthermore, this release rides a massive wave of franchise momentum. Bloober Team successfully launched the ‘Silent Hill 2’ remake in 2024, and ‘Silent Hill f’ kept the energy high throughout 2025.
October Lineup & Massive 2027 Releases
Next month, the PS5 library grows even larger. October brings ‘Phantom Blade Zero’. Critics already hail this action game as a potential Game of the Year contender. Additionally, gamers will see the release of ‘Stupid Never Dies’ and the survival game ‘Enshrouded’. Xbox players will eventually get Enshrouded in 2027, making it a timed console exclusive.
Looking further ahead, Sony has massive plans for 2027. February will bring ‘God of War Laufey’ as a pure PS5 exclusive. Moreover, strong rumors suggest Naughty Dog will launch ‘Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’ later that same year. Until then, PS5 owners have plenty of new software to keep them busy.
