Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that the provincial government will completely end manual examination checking next year and introduce an on-screen marking system across the province.
Speaking at a press conference, Hayat said the new system would make the examination process more transparent and ensure that students receive fair credit for their performance. The government also plans to hold schools accountable for weak academic results through merit-based evaluations, rewards, penalties, and continuous monitoring.
The minister said Punjab’s transparent examination system was providing students with equal opportunities to demonstrate their abilities. He highlighted the improved performance of girls and strong results among students from minority communities as evidence of the positive impact of reducing cheating and external interference in examinations.
Hayat also announced the introduction of SLO-based assessments and said the government was working on a new curriculum aligned with artificial intelligence.
According to the minister, the education reforms are aimed at promoting genuine learning and ensuring that students’ academic performance is assessed fairly. The shift to on-screen marking is expected to further strengthen transparency and reduce the chances of errors or interference during the examination process.
