Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has slashed Liquefied Natural Gas (LPG) prices for September, cutting rates by more than 21 percent and offering relief to consumers on both major distribution networks.
According to the notification issued by the regulator, the price of LNG has been reduced by $3.91 per MMBtu on average, marking one of the steepest downward revisions in recent months. The cut applies separately to the two main gas distribution systems in the country.
On the Sui Northern system, LNG prices have been brought down by $3.83 per MMBtu, setting the new rate at $15.19 per MMBtu. The Sui Southern system has seen a slightly larger cut of $3.91 per MMBtu, bringing its price to $14.22 per MMBtu.
OGRA issues monthly LNG price notifications based on prevailing international market rates, and the latest revision reflects a broader decline in global LNG benchmarks. The new rates take effect from September and will apply to industrial, commercial, and power-sector consumers drawing gas through the two Sui systems.
The price reduction is expected to ease input costs for industries reliant on imported LNG, particularly in the power generation and manufacturing sectors, which have faced volatile energy pricing over the past year.
