The government is preparing a comprehensive gas management plan for the upcoming winter season as authorities take measures to manage supplies amid an expected increase in demand.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed relevant authorities to finalize the winter gas load management plan and complete necessary preparations in advance. A meeting chaired by the prime minister reviewed measures to ensure adequate gas availability during the colder months.
Officials briefed the meeting on steps being taken to manage the expected rise in demand. The government also plans to launch a public awareness campaign encouraging households to use alternative energy sources instead of locally produced gas where possible.
Authorities are also working to ensure uninterrupted transmission of gas from reserves in the northern areas of the country.
Meanwhile, a proposal to facilitate bank financing for electric appliances used for water and space heating is also under consideration as part of efforts to reduce pressure on the gas supply system during winter.
