Motorola has started rolling out Android 17 to the Edge 70 Pro, according to a report shared on Reddit. The update is currently reaching European models and requires a 3.42GB download. After installation, the phone runs software version A171WMH.44-25.
The update brings several design changes, improved multitasking, and stronger security controls. Motorola has also redesigned notifications and quick settings while adding new lock screen clock faces. Other changes include a new volume mixer, an updated Settings app, and a refreshed app drawer.
Android 17 also introduces Live Activities support for calls, music, and the flashlight. The update improves support for themed icons and adds smoother animations. Additionally, a user who received the update reported that Motorola’s Qira AI agent works well on the new software.

Motorola announced the Edge 70 Pro in April with Android 16. The phone is eligible for up to three major Android updates, making Android 17 its first major upgrade. It joins the Motorola Signature, Edge 60 Fusion, and Razr Ultra 2026, which have also received Android 17.
However, the rollout appears limited for now, so some users may have to wait several days or weeks. Availability in markets outside Europe could take longer. Edge 70 Pro owners can check for the update under Settings > System updates. Motorola also recommends backing up important data before installation.
