Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has rolled out an artificial intelligence-based system across the province to detect child labour and monitor school-age children found outside classrooms during school hours, a PSCA spokesperson said.
The AI-powered system, integrated with Safe City cameras, runs around the clock to identify potential instances of child labour. Between 9:30am and 12:30pm daily, it also screens for children without school uniforms and for uniformed children present outside school premises during class hours.
Whenever the system detects such cases, it automatically generates alerts, which are then forwarded to the relevant authorities for verification and further action.
The spokesperson said the technology was intended to help keep children out of labour and encourage regular school attendance. The PSCA, the spokesperson added, will continue introducing modern technology to strengthen child protection and build a safer environment for children across Punjab.
