WhatsApp will soon be launching Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode for users of Android according to WABetaInfo. The feature already landed on iOS two months back and aims to allow users to play videos through a bubble appearing within the chat window.

Through this feature, the users will be able to watch the videos from Instagram and YouTube in a small window within the messaging app while they can browse through their chats simultaneously.

This means users of WhatsApp won’t have to visit YouTube or Instagram app as they click on play symbol in the thumbnail of the sent video. instead, the video will be played instantly right there and then.

Users can get the PiP mode activated by tapping on play icon appearing in the videos sent to them on WhatsApp.The video can be chosen to play, pause and close and will keep playing till the users stay in the messaging app. Users can alter the size of the bubble.

The feature is available in beta version 2.18.234 of WhatsApp and at present, it is under development and hence it has not yet been rolled out for the beta testers.

This, however, will not work with Instagram Story videos and we also do not know yet when the feature will be rolled out for Android users.
