Apple has increased the prices of its iPhone lineup in Japan, just weeks after raising the prices of Macs and iPads in several markets. The latest change affects almost every current iPhone model sold through Apple’s official online store in Japan.
The price increase was first spotted by the Spanish blog iPhoneros. According to the updated listings, the iPhone 16, iPhone 17e, iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max now cost more than before. Depending on the model, prices have gone up by as much as 11%.
| Model | Previous Price | New Price | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 17 Pro Max | ¥194,800 | ¥214,800 | 10.3% |
| iPhone 17 Pro | ¥179,800 | ¥194,800 | 8.3% |
| iPhone Air | ¥159,800 | ¥177,800 | 11.3% |
| iPhone 17 | ¥129,800 | ¥142,800 | 10% |
| iPhone 17e | ¥99,800 | ¥107,800 | 8% |
| iPhone 16 | ¥114,800 | ¥124,800 | 8.7% |
Last month, Apple explained that higher Mac and iPad prices were linked to the ongoing memory chip shortage. The company said rising memory chip costs forced it to increase prices for those products.
However, Apple has not shared a reason for the latest iPhone price changes in Japan. The move is widely believed to be linked to the weaker Japanese yen. Over the past year, the yen has lost value against the U.S. dollar, making imported products more expensive.
The price increase appears to be limited to Japan. Apple has not raised iPhone prices in the United States or other markets that were checked. The iPhone is not the only Apple product affected by today’s changes. The company also increased the prices of iCloud+ and Apple Music subscriptions in several countries, including Japan.
These latest adjustments suggest Apple is continuing to review pricing across its products and services in response to changing market conditions and currency movements.
