Mojang just dropped a massive patch for sandbox fans. Minecraft Bedrock Edition update 26.60 officially rolled out on October 27. It brings a lot to the table. Players get well over 600 bug fixes. Furthermore, the update introduces exciting cold-weather experimental features and officially launches the game on a highly anticipated new console.
Native Nintendo Switch 2 Release & Chilling Experimental Features
The wait is finally over for Nintendo fans. Minecraft now runs natively on the Nintendo Switch 2. Consequently, players can enjoy the “Vibrant Visuals” graphical refresh right out of the box. Existing digital owners get a great deal. They can claim a free Switch 2 upgrade until the end of January 2027 in most regions. Additionally, this specific port improves split-screen multiplayer performance. It also fixes a pesky bug that caused UI elements to appear in world preview images.
Update 26.60 gives fans early access to the fourth Minecraft drop of 2026. You can now test out the brand-new Ice Cave biome. These caves generate underneath colder Overworld regions. They consist mainly of Packed Ice and Calcite. Inside, you will find glowing Ice Crystals and dangerous falling Icicles.
A new hostile mob also joins the caves. The Frostbite is a cold-weather zombie variant. It throws Ice Balls from afar and applies a Freezing effect up close. This negative status effect makes your character shake and reduces jump height. Eventually, it deals severe damage. Fortunately, wearing Leather Armor completely prevents the freezing damage.
Minecraft Bedrock Update 26.60 Brings Crucial Gameplay Improvements
The update packs exactly 89 community-reported fixes alongside hundreds of background tweaks. Therefore, everyday gameplay feels much smoother. Shulkers finally match their Java Edition counterparts. Pistons and moving blocks can now push them around. Moreover, Trapdoors now feature snappable placement. You can simply hold the placement button to keep consecutive Trapdoors facing the same direction.
Developers also fixed a widespread issue where touching water unexpectedly disabled sneaking. Similarly, placing a Bundle inside a Double Chest will no longer cause your hard-earned items to randomly disappear. Realms users get a massive boost as well. Upload and download speeds are significantly faster and much more reliable. Furthermore, the redesigned member screen now lets you invite players directly without adding them as Xbox friends first.
We only highlighted the major additions here. Head over to Minecraft’s official announcement to read the complete patch notes and explore all 600 fixes.
